THE arrival of the BRP Gregorio del Pilar, the largest warship of the Philippine Navy, shows the commitment of the Aquino administration to ensuring the safety of our territorial waters and exclusive economic zones. President Benigno S. Aquino III said this acquisition is a positive development made possible because of responsible governance that follows the straight and righteous path.

THE latest addition to the Philippine Navy, BRP Gregorio del Pilar, formerly a Hamilton 378-foot High Endurance Cutter (WHEC) of the United States Coast Guard (USCG), arrived at Pier 13 of Manila’s South Harbor last week and was inspected by President Benigno S. Aquino III. Its voyage from the United States took three weeks from Alameda Island, San Francisco, California.

LIVESTOCK farmers, traders, and processors can now freely transport their animals and meat products within the country as long as appropriate permits are secured, the Department of Agriculture (DA) reported this week.


DA pushing for production of organic pigs

NOW that the Philippines is Foot and Mouth Disease free, the Department of Agriculture has launched a pilot program for the dispersal of organic pigs in different farmer cooperatives in Southern Luzon in order to market ‘lechon’ as a distinct Filipino dish, preserve indigenous pig species, and give livelihood to far-flung areas.
